On this occasion the International Society of Oriental Medicine holding the 17th ICOM, I feel proud of the 40th anniversary of International Society of Oriental Medicine with the longest history among international societies in the field of oriental medicine.
To retrospect, it seems a short time has passed since the year 1975 ISOM was found, when the international exchange was unexpected, moreover unimaginable the exchange of traditional medicine at the age of cold war between the East and the West.
As the future generation always benefit from the pioneers in history, so ISOM could be developed into a world-renowned academic society today with the efforts of our great pioneers composed of oriental medicine doctors from Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
Oriental medicine has turned into the more evidence-based medicine and the medical science meeting the demand of the times through the successful international congresses playing as driving force behind scientific development in which various health topics and matters of concerns have been studied and discussed from the oriental medicine perspective.
Developing ISOM into a world class society all the more, I believe it is the role of scholars and experts working in this field of the world.
I would like to ask your continuous affection and concern for the development of the Society and this Committee.
